THE MOTHER EARTH ORGANIC BOX SCHEME

WHAT IT IS:

  • FRESH, ORGANIC, LOVELY, FRUIT & VEG FOR YOU TO PICK UP FROM THE SHOP, IN A BOX! Different things every week, but with the emphasis on UK seasonal produce when ever possible.
  • 3 OPTIONS: VEGETABLE, FRUIT OR MIXED
  • 2 SIZES:
    • SMALL (minimum 5 different items) - £6.50
    • LARGE (minimum 10 different items) - £13.00
  • DISCOUNTS: Pay for 4 boxes or more in advance and get 50p off each small one, and £1 off each large.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • You choose whether you want it delivered here on a WEDNESDAY or a FRIDAY.
  • You order and pay in advance each week and can chop, change, stop and start whenever you want.
  • It’s delivered first thing in the morning ready for you to collect whenever it’s convenient.
  • Note: we can deliver your box for you. If you need this service go to the delivery page for full details of our service and charges.

WHY IT’S GOOD:

  • The boxes are delivered by one of our organic vegetable suppliers. They’re coming to the shop anyway so there is no extra journey to bring the boxes.
  • Box schemes reduce waste at both the shop and the wholesaler. And regular box orders enable suppliers to work more closely with organic growers further reducing wasted produce and journeys.
  • You’re dealing direct with us – if you need to change your order, or if there’s a problem with your box, then we’re right here 7 days a week and can substitute items on the spot.
  • Our box supplier has the largest range of UK produce we’ve ever found – so you’ll be helping to support British agriculture when it really needs it.
  • Everything in the boxes is certified organic. If you want to know more about studies into organic benefits the Soil Association (telephone: 0117 314 5000 or website www.soilassociation.org) is a great place to start.

WHERE IT’S FROM:

  • Our boxes are from a company called Paul’s based in Leicestershire. They are one of our longest standing suppliers of organic fruit and vegetables, certified by the Soil Association as a supplier of organic produce and fully committed to supporting UK organic agriculture.
  • This means that for most of the year the majority of the produce will be from UK producers in the Midlands. The obvious exceptions will be for some fruits year-round, and during the spring – the “Hungry Gap” – when there is relatively little UK produce available, although even then it’s amazing what their skilled organic growers can produce.

NOT SURE WHETHER OR NOT TO GIVE IT A GO? Well, another advantage of this scheme is its flexibility. You don’t have to sign up for anything – just try it for one week. Contact us to find out more or pop into the shop on a delivery day to have a look at the boxes for yourself.
